Top 5 Things You Should Know Before You Trade Today - Bursa/KLSE
Malaysian equities are heading into today's session with traders focused on key technical support levels, institutional selling pressure and stock-specific momentum.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI suffered a sharp sell-off in the previous session, while the Hong Kong 50 Index also remained under pressure after breaking below its recent consolidation range.
With several major indices approaching important technical levels, traders should keep a close eye on support and resistance zones, market-moving events, momentum stocks and broker calls before taking positions.
Here are the five things to watch before the market opens today.
1.KLCI Support & Resistance and important levels .
FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI: 1,651.17 +7.21 (+0.44%)
- The FBM KLCI rebounded 0.44% today, recovering part of yesterday's sharp sell-off as buying interest returned to the market.
- The recovery brings the index back toward the important 1,651 resistance area, which also coincides with the short-term moving-average region.
- A sustained move above 1,651 could improve short-term sentiment and open the way toward 1,657-1,665.
- On the downside, 1,640-1,635 remains the first support zone, while the stronger demand area is around 1,630-1,633.
- The chart shows that the index/futures market remains below the recent September highs, so the broader short-term structure is still cautious.
- Momentum improved after the sharp decline toward the 1,630s, but follow-through buying above 1,651 is important to confirm a stronger recovery.
- If the index fails to clear 1,651 and selling resumes, a retest of 1,635-1,630 cannot be ruled out.
- Key levels today: Support 1,640 / 1,630-1,633; Resistance 1,651 / 1,657-1,665.
2. HSI Support & Resistance
The Hong Kong 50 Index staged a strong V-shaped recovery from the deep 24,220 low on September 30, but the rebound lost momentum near the 24,530 supply zone.
-
Selling pressure emerged around 24,530, pushing the index back toward 24,455.
-
The immediate support zone is 24,435-24,400, which is important for maintaining the current recovery structure.
-
A break below 24,400 could expose the index to the next support area at 24,320-24,360.
-
On the upside, bulls need a sustained 15-minute close above 24,500 to regain short-term momentum.
-
A successful breakout could bring 24,530-24,580 back into focus.
-
Overall, the index is at a key technical decision zone, with 24,400 acting as the immediate downside trigger and 24,500 as the recovery trigger.
